Rebecca Edelson and Jonny Ray sit down with Mark Mullins and Michael Mullins for a great conversation about music, family, New Orleans, and the unique journey that comes with growing up around a life in music.
Mark Mullins is a founding member of Bonerama, the legendary New Orleans brass-funk-rock group he co-founded in 1998, as well as a longtime member of Harry Connick Jr.’s big band. His son, Michael, has followed that musical path of his own, performing with Bonerama and contributing his vocals to the band's Bonerama Plays Zeppelin album.
In this episode, Rebecca and Jonny talk with Mark and Michael about the Mullins family musical connection, growing up in the New Orleans music culture, performing together, the evolution of Bonerama, and what it's like to carry a musical tradition from one generation to the next.
It's a conversation filled with stories, music, family, New Orleans culture, and plenty of behind-the-scenes insight into the lives of two musicians who have helped keep the spirit of New Orleans music alive.

For this special Father’s Day episode of Noise Control, Rebec Edelson and Jonny Ray sit down with New Orleans father-and-son duo Jake and River Eckert for a conversation about music, family, and carrying the New Orleans sound into the next generation.
Jake Eckert is a longtime New Orleans musician, guitarist, producer, recording engineer, and member of the New Orleans Suspects, with years of experience performing with artists including the Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Allen Toussaint, George Porter Jr., Dr. John, Little Feat, and many more.

Starting piano at just three years old, River has already performed at major New Orleans venues and festivals, including the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, Tipitina’s, the Maple Leaf, and the NOLA Funk Fest.
